To promote a greener planet and a more sustainable society through developing policy and providing consulting services to leading Indian institutions on environment and development related issues

About ERAF

ERAF Environmental Research Foundation (ERAF) is a not-for-profit entity registered under Section-8 of the Companies Act 2013, and was established with the aim of delivering robust and community centric solutions to both Government and private sector organisations for driving operational and environmental sustainability.

 

ERAF’s primary areas of activity are:

  • Consultancy services in Health, safety and environment (HSE) compliance and adherence to environmental, forest and wildlife certifications for infrastructure projects
  • Desk and field research in areas of sustainable waste management, climate change, pollution control, and environment impact and compliances as well as developing Concept Papers for project development
  • Critical analysis of public policies on environment related subjects, consultation and knowledge management, and policy inputs to Governmental agencies
  • Planning and conducting trainings, workshops and seminars on environment related subjects among students, societies, organisations and government officials.
  • Developing informational education and communication (IEC) material for training and awareness, and understanding and encouraging behaviour change on topics in our areas of expertise.


Our partners and panel of experts have vast research, capacity building and hands-on experience in areas of Environment Studies, Solid Waste Management, Sanitation, Drinking Water Management, Health Safety and Emergency Preparedness (HSE), Participatory Environment Planning and Management, Infrastructure Management, Information Technology, and supporting procurement processes in Environment projects.

 

Our team has experience in preparing detailed project reports and action plans, Environment Impact Assessment, carrying out surveys and data collection, holding stakeholder consultations, organising capacity building workshops, preparing IEC materials, and supporting in procurement processes in the fields of solid liquid waste management, water supply and environment management, among others.

Ajit Kumar Jain, I.A.S. Retd.
Chairman & Managing Director

As former officer of the Indian Administrative Services, he has more than 45 years of policy and implementation level experience. He served as the Principal Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation, GoM, headed the SWM Cell, GoM from 2002 to 2005 to advise the Government and the ULBs in the implementation of SWM Rules. Post his retirement, he continues to advise various committees of the GoM.

Dr. S.V. Dahasahasra, PhD
Water Supply Expert

An acclaimed water and sanitation expert, he was previously the Member Secretary of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran of the Govt. of Maharashtra, Mumbai.
He is also the Past President of the Indian Water Works Association.

Dr. Krishna Lala, PhD
Director R & D

Former Sr. Project Manager of IIT Bombay's, MHRD sponsored, e-Yantra Project. She has also worked at leading institutions such as Harvard Medical School, USA, National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa and NEERI, India. She is a highly accomplished trainer and consultant with versatile experience in the fields of waste water treatment, solid waste management and environment conservation.

Mrs. Poornima Gupta, MSc, MBA
Director Administration

Environmental Consultant with experience in projects like waste management, compliance monitoring for environment and HSE, micro-enterprise development and employment generation environmental projects.

Mr. Arun C. Palnitkar,
Director

A mechanical engineer with more than 35 years of work experience at TATA Power. He has the experience of working on various projects like rehabilitation of hydro turbines at Bhira Hydro Generation Station, erection of Thermal power plant and desalination plants, and installation of cable network connections. His has expertise in underground extra high voltage cable installation projects.

Mr. Ajay saxena,
Mentor & Advisor

PPP expert with almost 30 years of experience in working with Multilateral Banks (ADB), government entities and private sector in different capacities. Currently he is advising the DMED, MTDC, MARKFED, NIUA (MoHUA) and NIIFL among many others.
